Langham Preaching 2010 - 2
20th of March, 2010
(being the second part of my most recent V-land trip)
While I was primarily occupied with my assisting the Langham programme, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to use my few free moments to catch up with my old friends and (in my mind at least) extended family.
Not that this really will interest many of you reading, but I counted it an immense blessing from God to see Mama L and Papa Ross from SIL; the Gibbs, who now pastor the international church I spoke frequently at in ’08 and help out with the CF; as well as Pita, Neomai, Sevu, Vika, and Jakob (my Fijian family) – I have a knack for lining my trips up with their kids’ birthdays, last time I managed to catch Jakob’s b’day, this year, Sevu’s!
I also managed to sneak in a visit the USP (University of the South Pacific) Christian Fellowship group whom I worked with in 2008. Oh my, it has GROWN! From the 20 students we were excited at having two years ago, God now brings together fifty regularly, with more than sixty present on Thursday! This was massively exciting for me, especially after hearing about some of the substantial pastoral problems that plagued the group last year. What’s more, the little first and second year students – that’s you, Rose and Vini – I had with me are now all grown up, leading the group, and getting ready to graduate into full lawyer-dom. It was great to hear how they’ve been going over the past year and a half.
Steve managed to twist Andy Shudall’s arm into changing his ticket to gain an extra day and spend today with the CF leaders teaching on Christian leadership in a university context (him being TSCF’s training guru in NZ). I didn’t catch all of his session with them, but was massively encouraged and hopeful for his time spent with them.
Please keep praying for them as they minister in a hard, sometimes even hostile environment, and praise God for the fruit His gospel is bearing!
